Sustainable Construction

Lasting through time

Dissing+Weitling, Orbicon, detail materials, Hampus Berndtson

Dissing+Weitling strives to create lasting and fulfilling architecture. We want our solutions to make a positive difference to the people who use them every day and we keep a holistic mindset rooted in local conditions and pragmatic use of resources.

“We keep a holistic mindset and consider everything from materials to a company’s brand values. Many people spend most of their waking hours at the workplace, so we take the job of designing the best possible environment very seriously”.

– Daniel Hayden, Partner and Architect MAA

At Dissing+Weitling, we want our solutions to make a positive difference to the people who use them every day; we address sustainability from an environmental, a financial, a social and a technical perspective, and what we do is rooted in local conditions and pragmatic use of resources.

This may include matters of how and to what extent construction materials and installations have an adverse impact on the environment – e.g. the energy consumption embedded in the materials, or when it makes sense to use climate-improved concrete, or when wood is the best solution.

We advise on sustainability

At our design studio, we have trained sustainability managers who assess the potential in new projects, transformations, and buildings worth preserving. In collaboration with clients and partners, we consider processes, materials, and economics, and our guidance can result in advice on certifications or procedures and tools.

LCA, DGNB, and ESG

25 percent of Dissing+Weitling's staff have specialized knowledge in sustainable construction and are certified advisors in LCA and DGNB, the Swan label, ESG advisory, and more. The highly educated and experienced staff is a prioritized part of our sustainability strategy and ensures that we can offer the best advice to our clients.

Cutting-Edge Material Data

We offer thorough guidance on material selection and provide advice on what these choices mean for durability, carbon footprint, indoor climate, acoustics, and more. We work with the latest and most accurate data to equip you to make the best environmental decisions.

  • Workshop

Dissing+Weitling collaborates with the digital material library Revalu, among others, which utilizes over one million data points combined with AI technology, enabling stakeholders in the construction industry to compare the environmental impact of different building materials.
